It’s a Dogs Life !!

, One night in October 2007 I came to Lords Restaurant Screaming in Pain, Battered & Bruised, Starving & Sad and in urgent need of medical care and love. I got lucky !! I now live at the back of Lords have a good meal every day and I am loved. I have many brothers and sisters, we have our moments !! but most of the time we get on and have fun !!”

The Hope Foundation

In October 2003 I came across a litter of puppies on the back of the Lords land (1 Acre) all in desperate need of a home so I decided to adopt the mother (named Hope) and four puppies. Therefore, that took me to seven dogs overnight. I now have eighteen rescued street dogs and Two cats!! and still going strong !!, I have rescued and re-homed many other dogs over the last seven years and the last two a Beach dog in September 2009 which had been poisoned and  a 3 week old Black German Shepherd puppy in a shop which was in a very desperate need of a home !!. In rescuing these animals and feeding street dogs on the beach area everyday, it has become a mission to help Stray Dogs and Cats in Sri Lanka

. To carry out this good work, neutering, rescuing and feeding the Strays of Negombo I need help to develop this charity ( The Hope Foundation ) over the next few years, and it takes funds !! in covering the vets bills and food. I therefore request anyone visiting the Lords Complex to help me with this good work and donate any small amount of money possible or dog food & Rice

"As publishing this site another dog with seven puppies was knocked over in the road and sadly died very quickly, I had been feeding her for sometime and looking after the 4 week old pups she had on the Beach near to lords. I rescued the pups and after 3 days have found new homes for them all !! seven lifes saved !!

We all live together as one happy family on land at the back of Lords ( 1 Acre). Sometimes we will come and say hello when the restaurant is closed and you are drinking your cocktails !! Please be friendly with us we all have been vaccinated and just want some love !!

“‘Our Names are Brandy and Whisky we were Rescued from a shop in Negombo we were For Sale an taken from our mother when we were two weeks old! with our 2 Brothers in November 2008 sadly two of my brothers died because they were very sick but we survived ! We are the ones that chew everything and cause chaos where ever we go !! You will see us most evenings after you finish your dinner to say hello !”

  “My name is Breezer as in Barcardi Breezer !! I was saved from a pet shop in Kochchikade, in July 2009 I was very young only 3 weeks old when they separated me from my mummy and my brothers and sisters. They wanted to get money from me quickly but did not know how too look after me and I nearly died. When I was rescued I spent my first 2 weeks in a Hospital in Colombo getting the best treatment money could buy in Sri Lanka now I am strong and happy eat pedigree every day and will grow up to be a big boy !!”

  “My name is Buster and I was rescued from the Beach in Negombo August 2009. I was one of the fortunate ones and was fed everyday on the beach for 2 months with my mummy, when I was old enough my mummy came with me to live in our new home she stayed a week with me to make sure I was ok and went back to the Beach where she is happy, she comes sometimes and says hi to me. I sleep under my daddies bed every night but getting very big now and wont be able to fit under there much longer ! I am very happy ! “

  “My name is Princess and I am the aunty of the family. It gets noisy sometimes with all these babies around so I tell them off and they behave themselves. I love my food and confess I am a little bit over weight but happy to watch the world go by from my cushion chair ! This has been my home for 5 years and now I can forget about my past and know I will be looked after in my old age “

 “My name is Dunstan. I am blind in one eye with small vision in the other. I came to Lords because I could not see where I was going and ran into the road and got knocked down and hurt my leg. I now have familiar surroundings and friends to help me. “

 “My name is Lucky and son of Hope. Everyday I am lucky because after 6 years I still have my brothers and mother living with me. Every day I play in the garden and at night I have a dry roof over my head and do not get wet or cold “

 “My name is Ella and I am the bossy female. No one messes with me !!. I was rescued as a pup and been living here for 5 years. I eat to much but need my strength to play and fight ! “

  “My name is Ricky son of Hope but better known as shadow. I have been sleeping next to my daddy’s bed for 6 years and follow him everywhere. I don’t like to share him with anyone else I love chocolate and always the first to the food bowls. I have a skin mange problem since a baby so need new injections and medicine each month “

“My name is Sammy and my mother is Hope. I am the boss and no one messes with me. My brothers sometimes try but never succeed. I may be 6 years old but I do have a soft side and like to play with the new babies. “

“My name is Lilly and I am the youngest girl. I have been here for 2 years and love to flirt with all the boys, My daddy had me neutered so I cannot have babies. I have a serious skin problem over most of my body and have medication every day and I am a  little camera shy. “

“My name is Ruby and I came to Lords in September 2009. My daddy found me in the road nearly dead because someone had poisoned me. Now I am very happy in my new home and do not want to go back to the Beach even for a holiday !

 My name is Hope I am pictured here with my three boys all bigger than me, there daddy was a big boy ! I like my home comforts and always attend my mummy duties by looking after my boys. !

The Hope Foundation will provide Neautering, Food, Rehoming, Education and look out for the Welfare of Dogs and Cats in Negombo area. My dream would be to have a animal welfare shelter in this area where we can rescue Street and Beach dogs & cats giving them a home and a decent standard of living which they all deserve.
